INITIATIVES

The Florida Gang Investigators Association is currently developing numerous initiatives to carry out the Gang Free Florida campaign.

This initiative is much more than just a name of a campaign.  The name; Gang Free Florida depicts the mindset that we as Floridians should strive for by developing and establishing policies, laws and strategies to combat the rapidly increasing havoc these gangs are bringing into our schools and communities.

The FGIA is taking the lead in this endeavor by not only developing this initiative but also taking it to the next level and establishing two additional groups to further this effort.

These groups will be the “think tanks” for the Gang Free Florida initiative.

These groups are:

  1. Gang Free Florida Working Group: This working group will be staffed with subject matter experts from all over the state and assigned to numerous individual task teams to which their expertise is best suited, to include but not limited to;

Gang Prevention and Intervention Strategy,
Gang Legislative and Prosecutorial Strategy,
Law Enforcement Anti-Gang Strategy,
Corrections Anti-Gang Strategy,
Juvenile Justice Anti-Gang Strategy,
Gang Intelligence Sharing Strategy,

These task teams will review and develop best practices for each topic area and submit these to the Executive Leadership Council on Gang Control Strategies and ultimately the FGIA Board of Directors to be included into FGIA’s Statewide Gang Control Strategy.  This strategy will be submitted to local and state leadership for review and we will strongly recommend its full implementation in order to combat this threat to the public-at-large.

  1. Executive Leadership Council on Gang Control Strategies: This council would be staffed by mid to upper level executives of agencies and organizations throughout Florida representing all the topic areas mentioned above in the working groups. This council will be the reviewing body of the recommendations that come from the Gang Free Florida Working Group, which will be submitted to the FGIA Board of Directors for inclusion into the FGIA’s Statewide Gang Control Strategy.
  1. Gang Free Florida Regional Motorcycle Rally: A statewide bike rally to bring those together with the desire to do their part in building a Gang Free Florida.  All proceeds generated from the rallies will go towards the development of additional programs and events dedicated to gang awareness, prevention and intervention.

There are many more events and initiatives on the drafting table to benefit this campaign and they will be added to this website as they are more established so visit the site often.
